Veterinary Assistant
Job Description
Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Veterinary Assistant. This position provides support to clinical faculty, staff and veterinary students in the Small Animal Clinic of the hospital. Duties include assisting with basic nursing procedures, maintaining supplies, cleaning and disinfecting daily, assisting in restraining and manipulation of patients, and other duties as directed by supervisor and faculty.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience handling and restraining animals;working knowledge of companion animal anatomy and physiology; knowledge of basic nursing skills;ability to follow instructions; good communication skills; rabies prophylaxis is required (provided by employer). Must be able to safely move an handle up to 50 lbs.
