Safety Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
This position is responsible for creating a safety-first culture through continuous improvement, training, safety policies and compliance with all OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions
- Develop, implement and enforce all safety programs per OSHA requirements.
- Identify, develop and lead all company safety training programs.
- Lead and coordinate the Valley Queen Safety Committee.
- Facilitate periodic safety audits of all departments including the identification of potential and existing hazards, recommend process improvement and verify that each hazard has been effectively remedied.
- Lead all accident and near-miss investigations to ensure that a root cause is identified and all action items are completed.
- Maintain and complete all OSHA regulator recording and reporting.
- Assist in the development and management of the safety operating budget.
- Maintain the safety supply inventory.
- Work closely with the Human Resources Department and workers’ compensation representatives on all workers’ compensation cases.
- Manage the contractor safety program.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office and food production environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Exposed to extreme temperature variations. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands for this position are mainly able to do sedentary work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently will need to sit, stand, walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position works an eight-hour shift following a Monday through Friday schedule.
Travel
Less than five percent travel is expected for this position.
Required Education, Experience & Certifications
High school diploma/GED. Associated degree in related technical field or equivalent number of years of experience. Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Preferred Education, Experience & Certifications
Desire two or more years in a safety role within a manufacturing facility. Applicable safety certifications are desired. Bilingual in English/Spanish.
