Fitness Coordinator
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Coordinator, Fitness. The Coordinator, Fitness is directly responsible for the administration and development of fitness programming and assisting with facility management within Fitness and Recreational Sports (FRS). This includes program planning, personnel management, staff development and evaluation. The position recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates fitness program instructors and academic course instructors and student staff. The Coordinator assists the FRS professional staff with student worker trainings, facility supervision, and with the staffing of special fitness events. The position develops and implements program assessment tools for all Fitness Programs and group training programs. The position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of group fitness equipment and facilities. The Coordinator reports to the Director of FRS and works closely with the other professional coordinators.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience or a Master's degree and one year of related work experience.
Related experience: to include providing customer service and operations management in a large Fitness Center; supervisory experience of fitness instructors and equipment; teaching group fitness classes.
Certification and Licensure:
- Certification in both Group Fitness and Personal Training through American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or equivalent or ability to obtain one within six months
- Certification in specialty areas of Group Fitness instruction or equivalent
- Certificate in Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Instructor
