Maintenance Worker
Duties and/Responsibilities:
Performing general maintenance of buildings and grounds including: Custodial, cleaning and care of floors, windows, walls and other areas as assigned, including seasonal yard work, cleaning cars and other duties as assigned by Supervisor, including moving of furnishings, supplies, equipment, etc. in various agency buildings/locations.
Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/ director .
Works under the direction and supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. Performs duties as assigned and in performing assigned tasks works cooperatively with other staff to achieve best results.
- Experience in basics of maintenance and cleaning techniques preferred.
- Drivers license desirable.
- Physically capable of performing heavy work.
- Must have ability to tolerate frustration of children upsetting cleaned or repaired areas, and safe-guard confidential information and be willing to learn methods of performing maintenance.
Essential Functions:
- Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 70 pounds
- Adjust schedule as necessary to meet emergency conditions affecting the agency (plumbing, electrical, snow removal, etc.). This includes the possibility of working evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to relate to and communicate with a wide range of people. This includes but is not limited to a broad range of people who are culturally and socio- economically diverse, as well as people with various developmental and functional levels.
- Ability to understand, communicate with, represent and carry out the mission, values, philosophy and policies of St. Catherine's Center for Children.
- Ability to carry out written documentation as required by St. Catherine's policies and procedures and as required by regulating agencies.
- Ability to organize and effectively manage (in a timely manner) the varied tasks of the position.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other personnel/ service providers or professionals.
Requirements:
- High School or equivalent or three years experience in at least one of the following: general maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- Have knowledge in use and care of all tools and equipment used in performing duties
- Clean and valid NYS Driver’s License
