Medical Director
General Purpose
The Medical Director position at Meta House is responsible for completing psychiatric evaluations, monitoring and prescribing medications for clients, and providing medical supervision and clinical consultation to Meta House's programs. This is a contract position requiring approximately 15-20 hours a week of time to complete all essential duties and functions of the role as further set forth below.
Essential Functions of the Job
* Participate in weekly Residential staffing meetings to review and discuss client progress and treatment plans
o Residential staffing meetings are on Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
* Participate and/or be available to consult at occasional Outpatient staffing meetings
o Outpatient staffing meetings are on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
* Sign off on all necessary documentation in Meta House's EHR system
* Enter progress notes in client medical charts when necessary
* For at least 10 hours a week, be available to see clients for individual psychiatric evaluations and interventions and be available by phone for consultation.
* Review medications and make appropriate recommendations for all Residential clients including bridging prescriptions for smooth transitions
* Work directly with the trained Meta House staff for appropriate client care
* Confer regarding the need for medical screenings and interventions with clinical supervisor and/or registered nurse
* Provide medical supervision and clinical consultation for all programs

Reports to: Vice President of Clinical Services
Qualifications and Requirements
As outlined in DHS 75.02 (39) and (63), Meta House's Medical Director must satisfy at least one of the following qualifications:
* Licensed under chapter 448, Stats. to practice medicine and surgery;
* Certified in addiction medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine;
* Certified in addiction psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; and/or
* Knowledgeable in the practice of addiction medicine.
In addition to satisfying at least one of the four requirements set forth above, Meta House's Medical Director must have the following qualifications:
* Knowledgeable in state regulations governing Meta House's programs including DHS 75 and DHS 83
* Maintain all necessary accreditations necessary to practice of medicine and/or provide health care treatment as required by the State of Wisconsin and/or any other applicable regulations
* Experience working with dually diagnosed clients with significant mental health histories
* Experience working with underserved and high-risk populations including pregnant women with Substance Use Disorder
* Knowledgeable and conversant in the confidentiality requirements of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and related federal regulations
The Medical Director shall procure and maintain at his/her own expense:
* Medical malpractice insurance at the minimum amount of $1,000,000.00 per occurrence and $3,000.000.00 aggregate; and
* Comprehensive general and/or umbrella liability insurance at the minimum amount of $1,000,000.00 per occurrence and $3,000.000.00 aggregate
