Job Description:
Department Chair, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, 12-month tenure-track position beginning July 1, 2019. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction includes undergraduate teacher preparation programs in elementary, middle-level, special education, and computer science/business technology education. The department includes the Office of Teacher Education Admissions and Clinical Experiences and administers the coursework for all content-area licensure programs. The chair of the department serves as facilitator and instructional leader for the department, teaches undergraduate and/or graduate courses, evaluates department faculty for promotion and tenure, analyzes assessment data for program improvement and reports, manages the department resources, plans class schedules, builds relationships and communicates with prospective and current students, faculty, administrators, and serves as a member of the Teachers College Leadership Team. Additionally, the chair engages in university service, collaboration, scholarship for the promotion of the department and the university.

Higher education teaching or administrative experience is required. The candidate must have K-12 teaching experience and possess or be eligible for a valid teaching license. Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with organizational, human relations and technological skills are expected.
