FAIRFIELD MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Fairfield Memorial Hospital provides leadership, direction, and guidance for all aspects of Nursing, Dietary, Therapies, Pharmacy Clinic and related healthcare services. The CNO works closely with the entire senior leadership team and not independent of the organization. The CNO will work closely with the CEO to formulate strategic goals, policies and objectives in consultation with the other members of the senior leadership team. The CNO monitors all operational aspects of the nursing organization to insure that quality and economical healthcare is provide to the community based upon its needs. The CNO is expected to establishing lines of communication to all organization entities including the other senior leaders and medical staff. He/she facilitates the development of hospital nursing services based upon community and regional needs.
The CNO of Fairfield Memorial Hospital reports directly to the CEO. The FMH senior leadership team is comprised of the President and CEO of the Healthcare system, the COO, the CFO, and the Director of Physician Office Practices.
Reporting to the CNO are the following positions:
- All nursing units of the hospital
- Dietary
- Therapy Services – Cardiopulmonary, Physical, Occupational, and Speech
- Pharmacy
Others to be determined over time.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Provides strong executive leadership to ensure the quality, cost-effective delivery of healthcare services on a comprehensive basis is available to the community.
- Works closely with CEO prior to implementation of new programs or services.
- Provides oversight and leadership with a focus on a more cost-effective operation, ensuring a continued level of quality services while maximizing productivity and proper unitization of resources. Identifies areas for enhanced program development.
- Provides personal leadership in the community and region, representing Fairfield Memorial Hospital
- Ensures ongoing communication and cooperation and within and throughout the system.
- Provides leadership for the development, monitoring, and controlling of budgets and financial planning.
- Submits budgets for approval.
- Takes a leadership role to assess nursing's competencies, patient experiences and assists with development of strategic plan to increase market share.
- Formulates plans which would foster the concept and development of team building in the changing environment of health care.
- Maintains professional affiliations to enhance growth and development to keep abreast of the latest trends in hospital administration.
- Supports the Mission and Values of the Fairfield Memorial Hospital through communication, performance, and by self-example to patients, other employees and the community.
- Provides Leadership for all Accreditation and Licensing Agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a motivated, critical thinking Registered Nurse. BSN is required. MSN or MBA is highly encouraged. Applicant should have previous management experience over a nursing unit, hospital, or hospital system.
Applicant should be someone with excellent current clinical skills to assist in leading their department managers and staff in developing and honing their skills and patient interactions.
Applicants should have budgeting knowledge and experience, and be flexible with the ever changing landscape of health care today.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two interviews with a panel of hospital executives, and a third interview with CEO.
