If YES, we have a great opportunity for a Direct Care Professional
who is passionate, kind and has an interest in working 1-on-1 with individuals in the community! Schedule: Part Time: Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:30pm-8:00pm Tasks include, but not limited to: Staff will be responsible to encourage and assist consumer with running errands as needed, heating dinner and apartment maintenance.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) for Community Based Individual Support (CBIS) will provide 1-on-1 services to individuals with intellectual and developmental special needs. The DSP is responsible to carry out individual service plans not limited to daily living activities, transportation, ambulatory and non-ambulatory services, providing companionship, etc. These services may be provided either in the community or in homes in support of achieving service recipients goals. The DSP delivers quality services and builds strong customer relations with the family making Easterseals New Jersey the service provider of choice. This position requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the service recipients.
Main DSP Responsibilities Include:
- Accurately and in a timely manner, complete a variety of regulatory documentation and service reports to assess quality and utilization outcomes utilizing Easterseals electronic health record system.
- Provide services as outlined in the service recipients plan of care: providing direct supports in the community, facility, or in their own home, including but not limited to: transportation, feeding, use of bathroom transfers, assistance with ambulation, hygiene, and all areas of adult daily living skills.
- Services provided must be in compliance with all regulatory state and federal requirements as well as in accordance with Easterseals policies and procedures.
- Adhere to regulatory compliance and Easterseals policies regarding reporting of all incidents of abuse, neglect and exploitation, confidentiality and HIPAA laws.
- Maintain compliance on all certifications and credentials based on regulatory requirements.
- Generate and adhere to service recipients daily activity schedules to comply with all Medicaid and other funding requirements.
- Adhere to strategies on behavior modification plans and techniques.
- Deliver services in compliance with all licensing, regulatory standards, accreditation and Easterseals New Jersey policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive customer relationships with service recipients, care providers, funders, co-workers and the general public.
- Maintain updated regulatory training such as CPR/First Aid, Crisis Management, and any other DDD-required continuing education and training.

Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent OR 2 years’ experience with DD/ID population.
- Preferred experience that demonstrates competency in supporting and communicating with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Must be able to communicate (both written and verbal) using the English language.
- Must be able to learn new computer applications such as electronic health records system, electronic pay system) and be comfortable using MS Outlook.
- Planning and organizational skills necessary in order to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exhibits professionalism at all times; works well with all internal and external teams.
- Exercises good judgement and capable of making decisions.
