Meat Manager
Job Duties/Essential Functions:
(Percentages indicate approximate time incumbent spends on each function during a typical work period)? Participates in meat cutting and uses band saw, and tenderizer. Observes employee performance to determine proper department production procedures and standards are followed.
50% - Puts wrapped and labeled meat on large trays of large wheeled cart and stocks in display case by reaching through sliding windows or moving rack to floor.
15% - Leads, provides training, encouragement, advice and feedback to meat department employees. Coordinates activities and breaks for meat department personnel.
5% - Determines production requirements. Checks quality and consistency of finished product. Oversees product presentation and merchandising.
5% - Carries out and ensures employee participation in Meat Manager's plan for sales and merchandising.
5% - Upholds safety and security procedures. Reviews sanitation log and checks for health code compliance, such as sanitation standards, temperatures, and pull dates.
5% - Assists with physical inventory periodically (13 times per year).
5% - Performs routine maintenance for machinery, equipment, and implements. Informs Manager of equipment repairs needed.
5% - Provides and ensures prompt and courteous member service.
5% - Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery
Band saw, tenderizer, grinder, wheeled racks, wrapping machine and pressure washer.
Non-Essential Functions:
Assists with front end duties and assists in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary. Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery. Cash register, tabletop / hand-held scanners, carts, and flatbeds.
Experience, skills, education & licenses/certifications Required:
Food Handling Card/Butcher Certification as required by local government. Costco Food Safety Certification required within 3 months. Meat cutter experience required.
Recommended: High School Diploma, GED or Trade School preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Physical, mental and psychological demands and environmental conditions.
